Upper West Branch Triathlon
RULES
New Rule – No pacers are allowed for run, kayak/canoe or biking.
General Rules:
It is up to you to read all the directions to the fullest.
Race will proceed rain or shine.
Race directors reserve the right to cancel or change event if weather or other conditions warrant.
No abuse of volunteers, police or others will be tolerated. Any abuse will lead to disqualification.
There will vehicles available to shuttle participants up to the starting line at PJ Bressler’s Bait and More Shop. Teams are asked to drop off their runner at the start and not park there.
There will be no shuttles to and from the other transition areas.
Running:
Impeding other runners is prohibited.
When running, please travel on left hand side facing oncoming traffic. When crossing SR 453 onto Bloomington Avenue Extension use care. SR 453 can have heavy traffic.
Water will be provided at the canoe launch at the Curwensville Civic Center.
Relay teams - you must tag your teammate in the marked area before he/she can enter the water. You can help you teammate with her/his boat.
Canoeing/kayaking:
Personal Floatation Devices (PFD) must be worn at all times.
Water will be provided at the canoe take-out.
There will be volunteers near or in the water if there is a problem.
If the water is low there may be areas where you have to walk with your boat. Be prepared.
Relay teams - after exiting water you must run up to bicycle transition area to tag you teammate.
Biking:
Drafting is not allowed.
Approved helmets must be worn at all times and must be on before leaving transition area.
Impeding a passing bike is prohibited.
Bicyclists must stay on designated route.
Stay in the right hand lane with traffic.
This is not a closed racecourse. Please be wary of traffic at all times, especially on SR 453, which has more traffic.
